VITAQ® Omega3 1100 FAQs

We had our EPAX® fish oil capsules analyzed by two leading laboratories in Germany. The result was clear: the heavy metal contamination of our capsules was below the detection limit and thus well below the limits set by GOED, IFOS and the EU. No heavy metals were detectable.

Unfortunately, we have not yet found a vegan option that achieves a dosage like our 1100 Omega-3 capsules. Although algae oil already contains EPA and DHA, the EPA concentration per capsule is too low: you would usually have to take 2-4 capsules. With vegetable oils such as linseed oil, the situation is even more difficult, since the ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) contained in the body must first be converted into EPA and DHA, which leads to very low levels of these essential fatty acids.

A triglyceride content of over 90% is important because triglycerides are the natural form of omega-3 fatty acids that the body can efficiently absorb and utilize. This is known as bioavailability, or the amount of a substance that actually enters the bloodstream and can be used by the body. In comparison, conventional fish oils often contain lower levels of triglycerides.

Omega-3 fatty acids are generally well tolerated. In rare cases, omega-3 capsules may cause mild gastrointestinal discomfort such as nausea, diarrhea, or belching. However, people taking prescription medications should always consult their doctor before taking omega-3 capsules to avoid possible interactions or adverse effects. This is especially true for people with heart disease.
